Commercial finance

Funding we arrange

One firm for the full funding picture, from a single equipment purchase to refinancing every facility the business holds.

  • Business finance

Funding for growth, acquisitions, new contracts and periods of financial pressure, structured around your trading cycle.

  • Commercial loans

Commercial property purchases, refinancing and term lending, with the security and covenants explained before you sign.

  • Working capital

Overdrafts and revolving facilities sized to the gap between paying suppliers and being paid, so profit turns into cash.

  • Asset & equipment finance

Vehicles, machinery and equipment through chattel mortgage, lease or hire purchase, keeping cash in the business.

  • Receivables & trade finance

Draw against unpaid invoices, or pay local and overseas suppliers now and repay once the goods are sold.

Advisory & restructuring

When the answer isn't another loan

Some businesses need a new facility. Others need their existing debt rebuilt, a clear cash plan, or someone experienced in the room with their lender.

We bring lender-side credit and risk experience to the owner's side of the table. That means we know how a credit committee will read your numbers, and we fix what needs fixing before they do.

Our approach

The PFITZ Model

Our working capital framework. It shows a business exactly where it stands before a lender assesses it, so every application starts from strength.

Position of cash strength

Where cash actually sits today, not where the P&L suggests it should.

Funding structure

Whether current finance suits how the business operates.

Investment in working capital

Cash tied up in debtors, stock and work in progress, and how it got there.

Trade & cash conversion

How long money takes to travel from purchase to customer payment.

Zone of financial strength

The overall position the four pillars produce.

Strength Stability Pressure

The Zone is a diagnostic indicator. It is not a lending approval or a credit rating.

The cash conversion cycle: pay suppliers, hold stock, invoice the customer, get paid. Pay suppliers Hold stock Invoice customer Get paid Cash conversion

T · Trade & cash conversion

Every day in this loop is a day your business funds itself.

Most cash pressure in a profitable business sits somewhere in this cycle: suppliers paid early, stock held too long, or customers paying late. We measure each stage, then match the finance to the gap or shorten the gap itself.

Working Capital Assessment

A 10-minute self-assessment that gives your first Zone reading.

Working Capital Review

A facilitated session through each pillar, ending in a tailored Funding Blueprint.

Bank Readiness Score

A 100-point assessment for businesses preparing to approach lenders.

Leadership

Sonja Pfitz

Founder & Director

Sonja founded Pfitz Financial to give established businesses what she saw missing from the lender's side of the table: advice that starts with how the business really works.

She has more than 30 years across business finance, credit, risk, operations and SME advisory, including senior executive roles inside lending institutions. She has also built and run businesses of her own, so she reads financials the way both a credit committee and an owner would.

Sonja sets the firm's direction and its standards, and developed the PFITZ Model and Bank Readiness Score that underpin every client engagement. Her focus is long-term financial strength for Australian SMEs.

Questions

Common questions about business finance

What does a commercial finance broker do?

A commercial finance broker assesses what a business needs, prepares the application and compares lenders to find a facility that suits how the business operates. Pfitz Financial also advises on structure, so the funding fits the business rather than the other way round.

What is business debt restructuring?

Debt restructuring changes the shape of a business's existing borrowing, for example by consolidating facilities, extending terms or moving to a lender that suits the business better, so repayments match how the business earns. Pfitz Financial assesses the current facilities, builds the case and negotiates with lenders on the owner's behalf.

When should a business get advice instead of a new loan?

When cash is tight despite steady sales, when a lender is raising concerns, or when existing facilities no longer fit the business. More debt can make these problems worse. An advisory review finds the cause first and then recommends restructuring, a change in working capital, new finance, or a mix.

Why is my profitable business still short of cash?

Profit and cash are different. Cash is often tied up in debtors, stock and work in progress, or the business carries finance that does not match its trading cycle. A working capital review shows where the cash sits and which facility, if any, will release it.

My customers take 30, 60 or 90 days to pay. What can I do?

Receivables finance, also called invoice or debtor finance, lets a business draw funds against unpaid invoices instead of waiting for customers to pay. It grows with sales, which suits businesses with long payment terms.

I need to pay suppliers before my customers pay me. What are my options?

Trade finance pays suppliers, locally or overseas, on the business's behalf and gives it time to sell the goods before repaying. It is used by importers, wholesalers and manufacturers.

How can I finance vehicles, machinery or equipment?

Asset and equipment finance spreads the cost of vehicles, machinery and equipment over their working life, keeping cash in the business. Options include chattel mortgages, finance leases and hire purchase.

What is the PFITZ Model?

The PFITZ Model is a working capital framework developed by Sonja Pfitz. It reviews five areas: Position of cash strength, Funding structure, Investment in working capital, Trade and cash conversion, and the resulting Zone of financial strength. It shows a business its position before a lender assesses it.

Who is Pfitz Financial for?

Established Australian small and medium businesses that need funding for growth, equipment, working capital, property or acquisitions, or that are under financial pressure and need a clear plan.
